painting is based on images of the
Hosta plants that were
growing in my
flower bed.
Like a
Phoenix, these
flowers grow back
year after year, despite my
neglect as a gardener.
I’m reminded of the serene beauty of the growth that is possible as a result from the sad fact of death.
